This short extract video shows how easy the installation process of a spiral staircase should be – and how pleased you will be with the result. But what you can see from this video clip, is that installing a staircase is a straightforward task. It is clean and non-disruptive, the only “serious” actions being drilling for the bottom fixing plate and fixing the top landing tread (or top fixing bracket for a modular staircase) to the upper floor edge. Apart from that, it is pure repetition for each tread. The treads are always completed before the balustrading is installed and, to keep the staircase balanced during the installation, just line alternate treads opposite each other until you fix the landing tread. You can then safely fan the treads out into their approximate positions. Then it’s simply a matter of installing the spindles on each tread, following the instructions.

So, you can safely finish all the dirty construction work and the decorating before you install your new staircase. This particular spiral stair (above) has segmented beech handrail and some of the fixing details will vary between the staircase models, but the process is always very similar.

One of our favourite installation videos is of the Clip Spiral Staircase (below), sadly no longer in production, so your spiral staircase will probably be installed in a different way, but it gives you a flavour of the process. Installing your staircase should be straightforward, clean, with instructions which are easy to follow and – yes, it can also be fun! We can’t guarantee the lovely Italian sandwiches, but you can’t have everything!
